Urogynics
was founded by Dr. Lauri Romanzi in 1998. Dr.
Romanzi and her team bring insight and innovation
to the field of women's health.
Lauri J. Romanzi, M.D., clinical
associate professor in the department of Obstetrics
and Gynecology at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill
Cornell Medical College, is a board certified
gynecologist and fellowship-trained specialist
in Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery.
Dr. Romanzi was the first surgeon in Manhattan
to perform minimally
invasive Tension Free Vaginal Tape procedure
for urinary incontinence, and the pioneer of
a scar-free, uterus preserving (no hysterectomy)
technique of uterine
prolapse repair.
Dr. Romanzi is an anatomy instructor to the
medical students at Weill Cornell Medical Center,
medical researcher and regularly called upon
to review research submissions to peer reviewed
medical journals. She is a member of several
national and international surgical societies,
an advisory board member to medical and surgical
corporations and serves on the Editorial Advisory
Board of the Journal of Gender Specific Medicine.
During the summer of 2006 Dr. Romanzi was visiting
professor at the Kilimanjaro
Catholic Medical Center during
the month of August. Since 2004, she has
donated her NYC fundraising time and fistula
repair surgical skills to the International
Organization for Women and Development, Inc.,
a non-profit organization working in the West
African country of Niger.
